I don't understand how paying for green energy would mean you personally recieved the green energy. I'd be glad to learn more though. You can get grants for solar panels and wind turbines from the government but these are still costly - AND you have to get planning permission before you erect them! Use public transit and rent a car (low fuel car) when you really must have one. The car manufac. will all hate this idea but the price of cars are so high now that they can cut prod. 75% and still make the shareholder happy. If we all did this we will soon be green again! The power re-sellers just buy the energy at bulk rates and sell it on. You can't say 'I want that power station please' or 'No nuclear power thanks' It just doesn't work like that. At times of high demand, power is bought from France on cross-channel cables and that will be 90% nuclear. Doesn’t matter what company you use, all the power is generated by Powergen and distributed on the National grid. The power re-sellers just buy the energy at bulk rates and sell it on.
