What Is The ‘best’ Environmental Product On The Market That Retails For 50$ – 250$?

by admin in Green Energy

By ‘best’, I mean the product with the most positive environmental impact and / or the one that benefits the consumer most. I am looking for ways to ‘go-green’. Any thoughts or comments are appreciated. The product can be in any category provided it is a ‘green’ one. Thanks in advance.

bokashi bucket this is better than a compost bin emits no smell and turns your waste into fertiliser and very potent plant juice…
Can compost anything meats, vegetables, even bits of paper and it ferments it into usable plant food..
Very good for landfill reduction and landfill pollution.
    Is about 100AUD *150US

    Hi,
I think you are getting some good suggestions.
We have been working on cutting our energy and CO2 emissions in half. We did a total of 20 projects to accomplish this. The best 7 of the 20 projects (most energy and CO2 saving for the least dollars spent) are listed herehttp://www.builditsolar.com/References/H…
    For the package of 7:
cost of all 7 projects $193
energy reduction 8000 KWH per year
CO2 emissions reduction 8300 lbs per year
Cost saving (reduced energy bills) $680 per year
So, this is a pretty good deal both environmentally and as a money saver.
Some of these projects may not fit your situation, but some might.
    Gary

A cheap bicycle. In my (1973) Penn State days, all bicyclists could quote the December 1972 “Scientific American” as claiming that a human being on a bicycle was the most efficient means of transportation in the known universe based on kg * km/kCal.

This has tons of implications. Literally. Less weight to ship. Less product to use. Less packaging to throw away. So you can get that clean feeling about your house, knowing you’re keeping the planet clean, too.
    YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
When you buy the Get Clean Starter Kit (around $154 and equivalent to $3400 worth of cleaners) instead of the stuff you probably buy:
You keep 108 pounds of packaging waste out of landfills
You eliminate 248 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions
And it’s equivalent to planting 10 trees.
Get Clean products offer cleaning choices that are Green, and here’s why:

You’d have to shell out more than $2,000 at the grocery store to get the same amount of clean you get in the Get Clean Healthy Home Pack. Don’t let the smaller bottles fool you. There’s a whole lot of clean in there saving you money, ounce for ounce. You might be willing to pay extra for safe, powerful, green Get Clean. But it’s nice to know you’re actually making such a positive impact on your budget as well as the planet.

buy a smart strip or two.. its a long rectangular box with a lot of outlets in it along with a switch on the side.. u can plug in lots of appliances into one box.. don’t overload tho b/c it can be hazardous..
anyway — when u don’t need to use those appliances just turn “off” the switch on the side of your smart strip outlet and all of the appliance will turn completely off!!
    – IF YOU REPLACE A SECTION IN YOUR HOUSE WITH JUST ONE SMART STRIP.. WATCH YOUR ELECTRIC BILLS DROP DRAMATICALLY!!!! –
i happen to have one :D

The Blue Planet Smart Compost Bin which retails at $200 which can produce compost in just three weeks with things you normally throw away because they’re biodegradable (tea bags, fruit/vegetable scraps, lawn clippings, coffee grounds, eggshells, and even your vacuum dust) those are just to name a few much more things you can use. Now you can be growing those beautiful plants in no time. You might say why is this product so great? I can just make compost in a trash bag in a bucket and your right you can but to make compost that way takes alot of stirring a day. This compost bin is a stir-free so once you got your compost in the bin your done for 3weeks.

Lights – change any light that u use for more than 2 hours a day and turn off lights when u leave the room you can always turn them back on on your return, get into the habit. $50-100
Showers – use water restricting washers in your showers they will reduce the amount of water u use meaning that u use less hot water, meaning less electricity 4 hot water – $5 – $15
Hot Water – get a water jacket for your hot water tank it will keep water hotter longer – $40
Turn appliances off when your not using them the only things that really need to be on when you are asleep are the fridge/freezer, alarm clock, hot water tank.
Do that to start, and you will be saving money and have more to spend.
Sky light – in dark areas that need alot of light instead of using electricity put a hole in the roof and you will have free natural light – $200
Roof vents – a vent on the roof during summer will increase air flow and cool your home instead of always using A/C which costs around 3kW per hour to run – $100
Get a small back pack or saddle bag that you can carry arround wherever u go and stop using plastic bags you may even find that having it might reduce the need to drive to the shops to get bread and milk.
theres heaps you can do use your imagination whatever you are doing think about weather or not you are having an effect at the time and what can you do to have less of an effect, like right now are your printer and computer speakers on if they are and your not using them switch them off they would be using at least 10w per hour which is about 15g of CO2 not alot but if its all day every day…..

For that amount of money I think your best bet is to spend it on a bunch of smaller items like:
    CFL bulbs
    low-flow shower heads
    aerator screens on faucets
    weather stripping on doors/windows
These type of things will actually pay you back (they’ll help you save on your water & electric bills).
