What Product Is Effective At Retarding Re-growth When Applied To Recently Cut Tree Trunk & Branch Stumps?
During a recent county tree-trimming project in my residential area, I noticed that after each swath of large overhanging branches were cut, the crew would then sweep through the area and apply a rather thick coating of a green “paste-like” paint to the fresh stubs & stumps left behind after cutting had been completed. I believe the product they were using was intended for the purpose of sealing the stumps in order to protect the tree from vermin infestation and disease….and also to perhaps retard and/or prevent future re-growth of the tree branches that had been trimmed-back to the trunk. I’m presently wondering if there may be anyone on this forum who may know the identity of the “green mystery product”, if it has a trade name, and if it is in-fact available to the consumer public for purchase. Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated.

It is to deter bug infestation, and is WIDELY available. You can pick it up at any garden center, or even Lowe’s or Home Depot type places. It’s called pruning seal, and you can even get it in spray cans. I’m used to seeing it in black, but I suppose different manufacturers may make it in different colors.
